Joe Saunders ready for Angels call

Salt Lake-- The only thing Joe Saunders can do is be ready when the Angels call upon him again. It is something that can wear on your mind when you return to Triple-A.

Joe Saunders opened the season with the Angels and did nothing to say he shouldn't belong. But injuries kept him there and the return to health of Bartolo Colon and Jered Weaver meant his stay would not be long.

The left-hander went 2-0 with a 1.96 ERA over three starts with the big league club, allowing one run over his final 12.2 innings.

Despite the success, Saunders was shipped back to Triple-A Salt Lake - a place where he has not enjoyed the same type of success.

The Virginia native has worked in seven games, going 2-3 with a 5.06 ERA - thanks to two outings that saw him allow six or more runs.

While he has held lefties to a miniscule .182 average, the opposition is swatting .485 off him with runners in scoring position.
