Minor league roster shakeup

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have announced several roster moves throughout the minor league system.

Right-hander Tim Schoeninger has been promoted to Rancho Cucamonga of the California League. In 13 starts for the Kernels he posted a 9-3 record and 3.06 ERA. In 85.1 innings, he allowed 89 hits and 32 runs (29 earned) with 68 strikeouts and only six walks.

In addition, right-hander Bobby Cassevah has been assigned to the Orem Owlz of the Pioneer League. In eight games, all in relief, Cassevah posted a 1-1 record and 3.75 ERA with one save. In 12 innings, he allowed 15 hits and five runs with eight strikeouts and five walks.

Right-hander Tommy Mendoza joins the Kernels from extended spring training. Mendoza made 27 starts for the Kernels in 2006 with an 11-6 record, 4.17 ERA and one complete game. He was named the Angels Pitcher of the Month for July 2006 and the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week, June 26 – July 2. He is ranked as the Angels No. 10 prospect by Baseball America for 2007.

Right-hander Aaron Cook has been activated from the DL. Cook was placed on the DL back on June 23 with an inner ear infection.
