Dallas Keuchel Takes on Matt Harvey in Spring Action

As opening day nears, team's frontline starters should begin to match up in mini previews of the 2016 season

Thursday offers a number of high-profile pitching match-ups across both the Grapefruit and Cactus Leagues, including Max Scherzer taking on Adam Wainwright, Jake Arrieta against Giants' lefty Madison Bumgarner and perennial best pitcher in the world award recipient Clayton Kershaw taking on Trevor Bauer in the evening. One of the more intriguing games on the docket for Thursday will be the Houston Astros' ace, Dallas Keuchel going up against the Dark Knight of Gotham, Matt Harvey, in the Mets' spring home of Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Keuchel has looked good in two spring outings, totaling five innings pitched while allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out five. This small sample size is on par with the great numbers that helped the Astro left-hander win the AL Cy Young a year ago. Harvey has also appeared in two games, but has pitched a total of seven frames, allowing one run. His command has been a little off as he has issued four free passes, more than doubling his walk rate during the 2015 season in this spring's small sample. Harvey has also struck out five.

MLB Network will be carrying the game at 1 p.m. EST, so get those excuses ready for your boss. This should be a good one.
