For the third straight season, Dallas Keuchel will toe the rubber on opening day when the Astros take on Felix Hernandez and the Mariners April 3rd at Minute Maid Park.
Manager A.J. Hinch made the news official this morning. He wanted to see Keuchel throw five innings in a Grapefruit League game, which he did Wednesday against the Twins. Keuchel has given up two runs over 12 innings this spring, and will make his final start next Wednesday against the Marlins.
The Astros are looking for Keuchel return to his Cy-Young form after posting a 4.55 ERA in 26 starts last season.
Only five Astros have more opening day starts than Keuchel-- Roy Oswalt (8), Mike Scott (5), J.R. Richard (5), Shane Reynolds (5) and Larry Dierker (4).
