Astros Win 11th Straight

Astros open series with a victory over the Royals, extending win streak to 11 games.

The Astros scored their 11th straight victory tonight, defeating the Royals 7-3.

The 'Stros got the scoring started in the second as Nori Aoki and George Springer both delivered RBI singles.

Brian McCann extended the lead in the fourth, driving a two-run shot that nearly reached the fountains in right.

Yuli Gurriel added insurance in the ninth, sending a three-run bomb to the Royals bullpen.

Mike Fiers had a solid start, going five innings and allowing two runs. He could have gone deeper had the defense given him support, as an error and a misread by Aoki cost him two outs in the sixth. Had Fiers gotten through the inning, it would have been his third quality start in his last four outings.

Reymin Guduan and James Hoyt put out the fire in the sixth, getting back-to-back strikeouts with runners on first and third to close out the inning.

Will Harris tossed a scoreless eighth, and Feliz finished it off in the ninth.

The 'Stros are back in action tomorrow night as David Paulino takes on fellow rookie Jake Junis in game two. First pitch 7:15 CT, Kauffman Stadium.
