With all this talk about Donaldson struggling the past week or week and a half, Lowrie has been stinking up the joint since the start of May and his #s thru the first two weeks in June with a .473 OPS are even worst than what he put up last month with a .552 OPS.
Why hasn't there been as much of an uproar with Lowrie and threads made about him on what the hell is his problem the last 6 weeks? Did read some here recently who speculated that Lowrie maybe playing thru an injury?
Geez sometimes you just look at some of the pitches Cespedes swings at and wonder whether he's just going to swing at any ball thrown to him no matter where it eventually is located at? That pitch he popped up was on a ball was up and in and you'd think with the bases loaded that you'd wait for a better pitch to swing at than that.
I remember an at bat during the weekend series against the NYY when he fought off I don't know 4 or 5 straight pitches in an at bat and I'd say most of those pitches he fouled off were clearly out of the strike zone and Cespedes eventually k'ed swinging on a ball in the dirt and it was a ball the moment it left the pitcher's hand but to me Cespedes was going to keep swinging no matter.
Plate discipline is something I think that will keep Cespedes from being an elite talent. Now there have been other players who've also swung at balls consistently clear out of the strikeout and were elite players, like a Vlad or Ichiro, but don't think Cespedes will be able to do the same.
Joe Stiglich @JoeStiglichCSN After weekend of sellouts, tonight's announced turnout is 12,412. #Athletics
...saw some shots of the crowd earlier and it def looks like a crowd of under 10k there which is disappointing after the three legit sell outs over the weekend. I remember a couple of years ago sometime similar happened after a home series vs BOS where they drew great crowds but the very next series against another team you had some badly attended games and it reached the point where Glen/Ray even commented about the home attendance on TV which is VERY RARE.
The A's don't have a very big season ticket holder base. They have to depend on individual ticket sales. People usually can pick and choose which games to attend. Teams like Bos and St Louis probly have large season ticket holder base that causes the seats available to be very limited at each game. A casual fan might have to plan further ahead to attend games.

If they are going to tank a game this series, I prefer it's tonight. I'm flying down to the Bay Area tomorrow to catch games 2 and 3....my first games in Oakland since Mark Mulder outdueled Zach Grienke of the Royals.
