Bostick named MWL's player of the week

Beloit Snappers' second baseman Chris Bostick was named the Midwest League's player of the week Thursday for the week of June 10-16. He hit .458 with four homers and drove in 14 runs.

Bostick is the first Snapper to win the award in 2013. He began the week with two home runs in consecutive wins as his team continues to fight for a division title.

The Rochester, New York native drove in three runs over his next three days before hitting two homers against the Clinton Lumber Kings June 15. A day later, he drove in three more runs, including the the decisive run in walk-off fashion.

Bostick is having a very good season overall for Single-A Beloit, hitting .283/.366/.483 with nine long balls and 13 stolen bases.

After signing very late in 2011, Bostick went on to play very well in the Arizona Summer League, hitting .442/.482/.654 in a limited sample of 52 at-bats. He went on to have an up and down 2012 with short season Vermont, registering a 694 OPS after starting the season with a broken nose and finishing in a slump.

This year, the 20-year-old is playing well in his first full professional season. If he continues, there's a chance he could find his way to Single-A Stockton later this year or in 2014, where he could get a chance to match his numbers in the hitter-friendly California League.
