Midland Drops Game Two Of Texas League Finals

The Midland RockHounds dropped Game Two of the Texas League finals to the Tulsa Drillers, 5-2.

The Tulsa Drillers scored four times in the first two frames to stake an early lead they would never relinquish. The Drillers 5-2 win evens the Texas League finals with the Midland RockHounds at a game apiece. The series now moves back to Midland, where the RockHounds will look to take the title with two wins at home.

Starter Chris Jensen didn't have his typical outing on Wednesday. Jensen was a Texas League All-Star, but he was touched for five runs on seven hits and two walks in four innings. He also allowed three stolen bases and threw a wild pitch.

The Midland offense was kept quiet by five Tulsa pitchers. Starter Tyler Anderson allowed solo homeruns to Max Muncy and Daniel Robertson in three innings of work, but relievers Richard Castillo, Ken Roberts, Nelson Gonzalez and Kraig Sitton combined to close out the game.

Midland managed just six hits and two walks. Robertson was also hit by a pitch. Dusty Coleman was the only Midland hitter with two hits.

The Midland bullpen was solid in relief of Jensen. Murphy Smith, Ryan Dull and Frank Gailey combined to throw four hitleess, scoreless innings. The series resumes on Friday at Security Bank Ballpark.
