The Oakland A's announced on Tuesday that Nashville Sounds' outfielder Andrew Lambo is battling testicular cancer. The 27-year-old Southern California native had surgery on Friday in Nashville.
Lambo was acquired by the A's off of waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates during the off-season. He had a strong spring training with the A's, remaining on the big league roster through Opening Day. He was a fourth-round pick of the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2007 and has appeared in 60 major league games, including one with the A's.
Everyone at OaklandClubhouse wishes Andrew the best as he takes on this difficult challenge.
