Game Preview: June 1, 2004 - A's v. White Sox

David Levie breaks down the match-up between the A's and White Sox in the opener of the two-game series to be played at the Oakland Coliseum from June 1-June 2.

Date: Tuesday, June 01, 2004
First Pitch: 7:05 P.S.T.

Preview: The A's return to Oakland tonight to welcome the AL Central leading Chicago White Sox for the start of a 12-game, 13-day home-stand. Although Oakland is 12-9 at home with a 5-game home winning streak, the White Sox come into the Bay Area on a hot streak with 9 wins in their last 12 games, taking a 2 ½ game lead over second-place Minnesota. The A's are hoping that coming back home will help them cure their bullpen problems and the lack of clutch hitting that they experienced on their recent 1-5 road trip. Oakland has had no trouble getting on-base lately, but they are batting an AL-worst .249 (104 for 417) with runners in scoring position.
