The A's look to extend their winning streak against the Chicago White Sox, as they send lefty Mark Redman to the hill to face familiar foe Freddy Garcia. The A's will be honoring the 1974 "Swinging A's" World Series team before and during the game.

Preview:The A's look for their third straight win over Chicago and their 23rd win in their last 26 home games this afternoon at the Net. The A's rode the arm of Barry Zito last night and the bat of Jermaine Dye to win for the 15th time in their last 16 games against the White Sox. The A's remained 1.5 games behind Texas and moved 1.5 games ahead of Anaheim after their loss to Boston. The White Sox remain in first place by 0.5 games in the AL Central but found out last night that Frank Thomas is out for 2 months with a broken foot.

Chicago – Freddy Garcia, RHP (6-8, 3.45 ERA)
Oakland – Mark Redman, LHP (6-6, 4.84 ERA)

Comments:

Freddy Garcia: This will be the first time the A's will face Garcia as a White Sock, and in the past Garcia is 5-6 with a 5.57 ERA in 16 career starts against Oakland. He is 2-1 in three starts for the White Sox with a 4.79 ERA, and has allowed 5 homeruns and 20 hits in 20.2 innings. Garcia is 3-3 with a 4.14 ERA on the road this year in eight games.

Mark Redman: Redman is looking to start over with his first start of the second half this afternoon. Redman finished thre first half with a 4.84 ERA after posting a 3.54 ERA last year with Florida. Redman is 2-2 in 8 games against Chicago in his career with a 5.23 ERA.
