Stockton Ports Announce New Radio Partnership

The Stockton Ports announced on Friday that they had reached an agreement with KSTN AM 1420 to broadcast the entire Ports season in 2005.

KSTN's coverage of the Ports will be all-access. In addition to carrying live broadcasts of the games, KSTN will also carry pre-game and post-game shows. These programs will include interviews with Ports prospects and other California League prospects, as well as chats with the Ports coaching and front office staff.

The Ports, who will be an Oakland A's affiliate for the first time in 2005, will also be breaking in a new ballpark this season.

"This is an exciting  opportunity  for the Stockton Ports," Ports General Manager Mike McCarroll said in a statement released by the team. "As the Ports open a state-of-the-art ballpark with the best in fan amenities, having an outstanding broadcast partner such as KSTN AM 1420 creates another fantastic service to Ports fans. "

"Having a full 140-game broadcast schedule was one of our goals heading into Banner Island Ballpark," McCarroll said.  "Not many fans can make the trips to Ports road games. Our new partnership with KSTN 1420 will bring the games to the fans, regardless of where we play."

The first game broadcast will be on Opening Night, April 7. The Ports will be on the road to start the season and will, ironically, be taking on the Modesto Nuts on Opening Night at 7:05 pm. The A's ended their 30-year relationship with Modesto to sign up with Stockton this season.
