Only two of the eight A's prospects who have spent time with the Phoenix this fall made it into the championship game. Second baseman Kevin Melillo got the start as the team's designated hitter. Batting in the seventh slot, Melillo singled in four at-bats.
Reliever Mike Mitchell threw one inning, pitching a scoreless seventh inning to earn a hold. He allowed two hits, but used a double-play to get through the inning unscathed.
Phoenix manager Tony DeFrancesco won his third title as a manager, the first two coming in 2003 and 2004 with the Sacramento River Cats.
