The Oakland A's have agreed to terms with three minor league free agents: right-handed pitcher Kevin Cameron, first baseman Tagg Bozied and outfielder Matt Carson. All three will be non-roster invitees to the A's major league spring training camp.
Cameron, a reliever, comes to the A's from the San Diego Padres organization. The Georgia Tech alum was a 2001 draft pick of the Minnesota Twins. He has made 58 major league appearances during his career, all with the Padres. His career major league ERA is 2.91 and he has 55 strike-outs and 42 walks in 68 big league innings. He had a 3.60 ERA in 10 innings with the Padres and a 1.93 ERA in 18.2 innings for Triple-A Portland last season. He missed significant time with an elbow injury in 2008. Cameron was a Rule 5 pick of the Padres out of the Minnesota Twins organization before the 2007 season.

Bozied is another former member of the San Diego Padres organization, although he spent last season in Triple-A with the Florida Marlins' affiliate, the Albuquerque Isotopes. Bozied had a big season for the Isotopes, hitting .306 with 26 homers and 80 RBIs in 123 games. He hit 24 homers for Triple-A Memphis (St. Louis) in 2007 and he has 123 career homers in 703 minor league games. He was a 2001 third round pick by San Diego out of the University of San Francisco. He was one of the Padres' top prospects in 2003 and 2004, but a patella tendon injury he suffered jumping on home plate after a game-winning grand slam impeded his progress to the major leagues.

Carson joins the A's after spending his entire minor league career in the New York Yankees' organization. The right-handed hitting outfielder batted .295 with 10 triples and 15 homeruns in 111 games for Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2008. The 27-year-old is a career .255 hitter in 720 minor league games. He was a fifth round pick of the Yankees out of BYU in 2002. Carson is currently competing in the Dominican Winter League, where he is hitting .273 with six homers in 20 games for Aguilas.
