On Tuesday, the Oakland A's beat a split-squad Arizona Diamondbacks' team by a score of 11-3. Sean Gallagher got the start for Oakland and he boosted his chances of being in the A's Opening Day rotation with four scoreless innings. Prospect Vince Mazzaro ran into his first difficulties of the spring, as he allowed three runs and four walks in 2.1 innings. Those were the first runs that he had allowed all spring. He had only walked one in his previous outings.
At the plate, the A's young hitters had an impressive game. Aaron Cunningham hit a long homerun to center, while Cliff Pennington hit a double and a triple and catcher Josh Donaldson hit an opposite-field triple.
