Sacramento Photo Gallery: 'Cats Toss Shutout

SACRAMENTO, CA - The Sacramento River Cats are on a roll thanks to some great pitching and defense. That pitching and defense was on display once again in the River Cats' 4-0 win over the Las Vegas 51s. We have the photos from the game inside...

The Sacramento River Cats won their fourth straight game and their 10th in 11 games with a 4-0 whitewashing of the Las Vegas 51s. Both teams displayed great defense and strong pitching for much of the day before the River Cats broke through for four runs in the decisive 8th inning.

Chad Reineke got the start for Sacramento and he was outstanding in his fifth start of the season. The right-hander allowed only four base-runners in 5.2 innings and he struck-out five. Jerry Blevins took over for Reineke with two-on and two-out in the sixth and got a strike-out to get out of the jam.

Blevins would throw a scoreless seventh inning. He retired all four batters that he faced and he struck-out three of them. Ryan Webb took over for Blevins in the eighth in a scoreless game and he worked out of a two-on, one-out situation in the eighth inning and he pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his sixth win of the season.

The River Cats mounted a game-winning rally in the bottom of the eighth against former A's prospect Bill Murphy. With one-out, Eric Patterson singled, Chris Denorfia walked and Daric Barton was hit-by-a-pitch to load the bases. Bryan Bullington took over for Murphy and immediately gave up a two-run double to Matt Carson. After Bullington struck-out Jeff Baisley, Anthony Recker put the game away for Sacramento with a two-run single.

Sacramento's defense was spectacular on Sunday. Danny Putnam made an outstanding catch on a long drive to the gap in left-center and Eric Patterson saved a hit with a diving stop. The 51s also flashed some slick leather, as they made numerous diving stops.
