Rangers Winterball Roundup – 12/28

Known more for his glove than his bat, Guasave catcher Jose Felix raised his batting average to .326 with a two-hit performance on Friday. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's winterball action in the Texas Rangers' system.

Dominican Winter League

Sidearming reliever Johan Yan tossed a scoreless seventh inning in the Aguilas' 3-0 victory on Friday. He gave up a double but induced a popup to second before striking out a pair.

Venezuelan Winter League

Playing in his club's 10-1 victory on Friday, Magallanes shortstop Elvis Andrus went 1-for-3 with his fourth double and a walk. He also committed a fielding error, his fourth of the campaign.

Aragua third baseman Yangervis Solarte raised his batting average to .302 with two singles in four at-bats.

Lara's Guilder Rodriguez appeared as an eighth-inning pinch-runner. He finished the game at third base but didn't get a plate appearance.

Mexican Pacific League

Hot-hitting Guasave catcher Jose Felix raised his batting average to .326 with a pair of knocks in three at-bats. While Felix drove home one at the plate (his 16th), he also committed a fielding error behind the dish (his third).

Puerto Rican Winter League

Ponce DH Zach Zaneski and catcher Kevin Torres both started but played a partial game on Friday. The duo went 0-for-2 at the plate apiece.

Behind the plate, Torres threw out one of two attempted base stealers. The Puerto Rico native caught Ponce starting pitcher and former MLB All-Star Javier Vazquez.

Jared Hoying appeared as a pinch-hitter in the eighth inning and had an RBI single, bringing home his club's only run. Hoying also stole his third base.

Australian Baseball League

Brisbane centerfielder Hirotoshi Onaka singled once and walked once in his three plate appearances on Friday.
