Five Dunedin Blue Jays Named All-Stars

Three pitchers and two position players were named to the Florida State League All-Star team this week. Two of the players have since been promoted to Double-A New Hampshire. The All-Star game will take place on June 18 in Clearwater, Florida. A home-run derby will precede the All-Star Game.

LHP Kurt Isenberg was named an All-Star after going 6-3 with a 2.85 ERA in eleven games started. In 60 innings, Isenberg has allowed 53 hits, issued 17 walks and has struck out 47 batters. Opposing batters are hitting just .238 off the left-hander.

LHP David Purcey is 3-3 with a 3.81 ERA this season in eleven starts. In 52 innings, the left-hander has allowed 48 hits, issued 29 walks, and struck out 53 batters. With runners in scoring position Purcey is holding opposing batters to just a .222 batting average.

C Robinzon Diaz is hitting .263 in 171 at bats with one homer and twenty-two runs batted in. Diaz has struck out just 13 times in 171 at bats. In 152 at bats as a catcher Diaz is hitting .257, however, in 19 at bats as the designated hitter, he is hitting .316.

1B Clint Johnston hit .310 with four home runs and twenty-run runs batted in forty-two games with the Dunedin Blue Jays, and since has been promoted to Double-A New Hampshire. It is unknown if Johnston will participate in the All-Star Game.

LHP Zach Jackson was also named an All-Star but will not participate since he is currently in the Fisher Cats rotation. Jackson went 8-1 with a 2.88ERA in 10 games for Dunedin. In 59.1 innings, he allowed 56 hits, issued 6 walks, and struck out 48 batters.
