Yates On Fire!

Kyle Yates was dominating once again Friday evening against the Tampa Yankees as the Dunedin Blue Jays took a 10-1 victory at Legends Field.

Yates threw a complete game, allowing just one run, on five hits. The right-hander walked two batters and struck out a season high eleven. Yates is now 5-3 with Dunedin and has a 2.07 ERA in eleven starts. In 65 1/3 innings, Yates has allowed sixty-two hits, sixteen walks and has recorded fifty-five strikeouts. Florida State League batters are hitting .248 off him. Over his last four starts, Yates has struck out thirty batters in 24 1/3 innings, with opponents hitting .204 off him. With runners in scoring position, Yates is holding opponents to a .177 batting average.

Carlo Cota, David Smith and Adam Lind each drove in two runs in the victory. John Schneider went 4-for-5 in the game with two runs scored, and a run batted in. Cota and Smith also had a double and two singles in the victory.

Lind is hitting .403 (25-62) over his last 16 games, with four home runs and fifteen runs batted in. On the season he has a .324 average with 12 home runs and 77 runs batted in.

Dunedin is in first place during the second half of the Florida State League season with a 31-23 record, two games in front of Fort Myers.
