InsideTheDome: How do you feel you experience at the University of Texas has better prepared you for pro ball?
Randy Boone: : I think it definitely has. The pressure of playing in front of big crowds and relieving has really prepared me for pro ball.
InsideTheDome: What pitches do you throw?
Randy Boone: : A two-seam fastball, a curveball, a slider and a split-finger fastball
InsideTheDome: Where does your velocity sit with your fastball and other pitches?
Randy Boone: : I'm 88-92 with my fastball, with my slider it's about 81 but I've been up as high as 86 and I'm usually around 81-84, my curve is in the mid-seventies and my split-finger is around 80 or 81 usually.
InsideTheDome: What type of pitcher would you describe yourself as?
Randy Boone:: I wouldn't say that I'm a power guy but I'm not a pure finesse guy either, I'm probably somewhere in the middle. I just try to pound the strike zone and get ground balls.
InsideTheDome: Do you see yourself as a starter or reliever as a pro player?
Randy Boone: : I think probably as a middle relief type but I think I can maybe be a starter if I become more consistant but right now I think I'll probably be somewhere in the middle of the bullpen.
InsideTheDome: What are some areas of your game that you feel need improvement?
Randy Boone: : Just getting more consistency with my command and being able to put my pitches where I want to. Also being able to repeat my delivery over and over so I know when I throw this pitcher where it's going to go every time.
InsideTheDome: What's your pitching mentality?
Randy Boone: : I'm just going to go right at people and try to get outs early in the count. I make sure not to walk anybody I think in 70 innings this year I walked 10 people or something and four of them were intentional.
InsideTheDome: How soon can Jays fans expect to see you playing in the minor leagues?
Randy Boone: : Hopefully as soon as possible. We'll get the contract worked out and then I'll go wherever they send me.
InsideTheDome: Do you have any first impression of the Jays organization or the city of Toronto?
Randy Boone: : I think the Jays are a great organization. I've always thought they did a really good job and their attitude is good. There are some strong pitchers that have come through and happy to be a part of the organization.
InsideTheDome: Do you have any goals set out for yourself at this point?
Randy Boone: : Not really right now. I'll have to sit down and think about it but right now it's just an honour to be a part of the organization and I'm just going to go wherever they send me.
