Atlanta's pitching coach, Leo Mazzone, begins his pre-Spring Training voluntary pitching camp today at Turner Field. In what is dubbed "Camp Leo", this workout has been a staple for Mazzone since he came to the Braves. Mazzone has used this camp to help resurrect the careers of pitchers' who seem to have pitched past their prime, as well as using it to help some youngsters get a jump on things before heading to Orlando.
This years' targets include many newcomers like Chris Haney, Mike Venafro, Mike Hampton, Ray King, Chris Spurling, Jung Bong, and many more.
Camp Leo starts today, while pitchers and catchers are due to report to the Disney complex on February 13th. The Braves' kick off their '03 ST schedule with their yearly matchup against this year's college opponent, Georgia Tech.
