Update: Bloomberg News reports that Former MSG President Dave Checketts will "submit two bids" by April 11 to buy AOL Time Warner's pro teams, one including the Braves and one without, Bloomberg News reported. Both bids will also include Philips Arena and Turner South.
The Associated Press reports that AOL Time Warner is in serious negotiations with at least two bidders about buying the Braves, Hawks, and Thrashers. Who the bidders are, how close the deal is, and the specifics of the deal are unknown.
This report comes on the heels of the news that ESPN's Jim Gray reported on late Sunday that AOL-TW was close to a deal with Texas millionare car-salesman David McDavid for the Hawks and Thrashers but not the Braves. However, Turner Sports denied reports that the company had reached any deal.
One possible suitor is David Checketts, who expressed interest in the Braves this past offseason. It is believed, however, that Checketts aim is to purchase the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Forbes Magazine reports that Atlanta Braves, Hawks and Thrashers are worth about $750 million.
