Lynchburg right-hander Arodys Vizcaino was named the Carolina League's pitcher of the week for the week ending May 15.
Vizcaino carried a one-hitter into the seventh inning against Myrtle Beach in Friday's start. He struck out six and in seven scoreless innings, with two hits allowed and no walks. The Pelicans scored a run off the Hillcats bullpen in the ninth to end the shutout, but Vizcaino still came away with a win.
Vizcaino is now 2-2 on the season with a 3.18 ERA in seven starts. He's allowed 26 hits in 28.1 innings, 10 earned runs, seven walks and 28 strikeouts.
Vizcaino is scheduled to start again Wednesday at Kinston.
