Braves sign seven international players

Bill Shanks has the scoop on the international players signed by the Braves.

Here are the seven international players signed by the Braves organization. They will have additional players sign this week. All of the following players are 16 years old, and all received six-figure signing bonuses.

VICTOR REYES - OF - Venezuela - 6-3, 185
A switch-hitter who can run with gap power. He's got an above average arm. He can run so he'll play CF now, but he projects more as a corner outfielder.

IOSIF BERNAL - OF - Panama - 6-3, 200
The Braves believe Bernal has terrific power potential. He's a right-handed hitter with a good bat. Probably a corner outfielder.

JESUS HEREDIA - OF - Dominican Republic - 6-2, 180
Great tools - power will eventually come where he can hit 20-25 per season. Raw but toolsy. Switch-hitter.

VICTOR MONASTERIO - SS - Venezuela - 5-11, 180
Great hands around the bag at second. He's got a good, quick short right-handed swing. He can flat out hit.

FRANCISCO GONZALEZ - RHP - Venezuela - 6-1, 180
He has a good delivery with good arm action. He's got a fastball in the 90-92 mph range. Curveball is good. Changeup needs work.

NELSON LEON - LHP - Venezuela - 6-0, 175
He's got the curve and changeup now, but the fastball needs work. Braves think the velocity will improve from 85-88 to 90-92 mph.

JESUS JONES - RHP - Dominican Republic - 6-2, 170
Has a chance to be a power pitcher. 90-93 mph now and could go higher. Curve is a slurvy pitch now that will improve.
