Minor League Report: 4/6

Bill Shanks has the latest from the minors as Greenville split a doubleheader and Richmond lost to Pawtucket on Tuesday. Read on for the latest scores and recaps.


Richmond lost Game 2 of its series with Pawtucket 4-1 on Tuesday night.

After Richmond scored a run in the first, the Red Sox bounced back with solo runs in the 3rd and 4th and then scored their final two runs in the 8th.

Chris Fussell (3-2) took the loss for Richmond. He went 7.1 innings pitched and allowed four runs on six hits. Fussell walked one and struck out eight.

Wilson Betemit went 2 for 5 for Richmond. Travis Wilson was 2 for 4.

Game 3 of the series will be Wednesday with Jason Marquis (1-1) scheduled to pitch for Richmond.


The Greenville Braves split a double header with the Tennessee Smokies on Tuesday night, losing the first game 5-0 and winning the nightcap 8-2.

Tennessee scored two in the first inning and two in the fourth inning off Greenville starter Brett Evert (1-4), who took the loss by allowing five runs and nine hits through six innings. Evert walked three and struck out six.

Adam LaRoche was the hero in Game 2 as he hit two solo home runs. LaRoche now has 8 home runs on the season. The G-Braves also scored 3 in the 4th inning and 3 in the 7th inning.

Willie Collazo (3-0) won the game in relief of starting pitcher Ray Aguilar.

Roman Colon(2-0) will start Wednesday for Greenville in game 3 of the series.
