Roberto Hernandez has been placed on the 15-Day DL with a strained oblique, and Jason Marquis has been recalled to take his place on the 25-man roster. Hernandez, who left Wednesday's game against the Athletics in the 9th inning is expected to miss the minium and return sometime next week. Marquis, who was demoted to Richmond in late April has been effective, going 5-3 with a 3.26 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP in 10 starts.
Marquis will work out of the bullpen, where he had a 6.57 ERA this year, but with Mike Hampton still trying to recover from a strained groin will probably get some work in this weekend.
Marquis had been rumored to be on the trading block, so this callup could prove to be his final audition for the Braves.
