Greenville Braves 9, Tennessee Smokies (STL) 4 -- SS Ramon Castro launched 2 bombs on a 2-for-4, 4 RBI day, as the G-Braves beat the Smokies, 9-4. LF Billy McCarthy was 2-for-4 with 3 RBI, and 2B Richard Lewis added 2 RBI, going 2-for-4, in the win. Chris Waters improved to 3-3, giving up 2 runs in 5 innings of work. Brett Evert got the save the long way around, giving up 2 runs over the final 4 innings.
Myrtle Beach Pelicans 0, Frederick Keys (BAL) 4 -- Matt Coenen gave up 6 walks in 5 innings, as the Pelicans fall to the Keys, 4-0. Coenen allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in the loss, falling to 4-6. LF Greg Miller had the only multi-hit performance for the Pelicans, going 2-for-4 on the day.
Hickory Crawdads (PIT) 6, Rome Braves 5 -- C Brian McCann drove in 2 runs on a 1-for-3 day, but two 9th inning runs cost the Braves the win, falling to the Crawdads, 6-5. Blaine Boyer had a shaky start, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits in 5 innings. Fernando Tafeda (2-2) took the loss, giving up 2 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks in the 9th.
Burlington Indians 11, Danville Braves 3 -- Not a pretty sight in Danville, as the Braves fall, 11-3, to the Indians. Danny Collins gave up 7 runs - only 3 earned - on 9 hits in 5 innings, falling to 1-3 on the season. Dan Mead coughed up 4 more runs in a 1 inning relief appearance, with 2 hits and 3 walks. LF Josh Burrus and C Andy Barden each had 2 hits in the loss.
Orlando Braves 2, Jupiter Expos 12 -- Yuck. Jake Stevens falls to 1-2 in the loss, giving up 5 runs, 3 of which were earned, on 4 hits and 2 walks in 2.2 innings. Neither Andrew Dewar or Nelson Payano recorded an out in the 6th, combining to give up 7 runs, 5 hits, and 4 walks. RF Carl Loadenthal and 2B Martin Prado each had a hit and drove in a run.
