GCL Braves Manager, Rocket Wheeler, was enthusiastic about his players.
"If you go back to week one from now, I've seen an improvement in every single one of these kids," Wheeler said.
Flores weighs 235 pounds and has an arsenal that includes a fastball, curveball, and changeup. He finished his debut season with a solid 4.41 ERA in eleven appearances with 13 strikeouts, but with 15 walks too, he continues to work hard.
"My fastball is between 90 and 93, and my best pitch is either my fastball or curveball," Flores said. "This season I worked on improving more or so my change up instead of the split."
Pitching coach Vladimir Nunez agreed that with the more hard work Flores puts in, the more he'd begin to prosper on the mound, especially considering he just turned 19 years old at season's end.
"He gets better all the way to the end," Nunez said. "Better command, and I'm thinking he'll make some improvement."
"These kids need at-bats and innings pitched," Wheeler added. "Everyone's improved, Flores improved. The last outing he went one inning and before that he went two."
The young prospect knows that at this level it is a process to work his way to the top.
"Coming from high school and college, sometimes they don't get used to pitching on their own, having your own game, and your own plan, going out there and competing," Nunez said.
