Bethancourt, Peraza to play in Future's Game

The Braves will have two representatives in the Future's Game next month.

Braves prospects Christian Bethancourt and Jose Peraza will play in the Future's Game on July 13 at Target Field in Minneapolis.

The game of the top prospects in baseball features the top international players against the top prospects born in the United States. Bethancourt is from Panama, while Peraza is from Venezuela.

Bethancourt is having a solid season with the bat for Triple-A Gwinnett. Always known as having a tremendous arm behind the plate, Bethancourt has simply needed to develop more as a hitter. He's hit .265 with three home runs, 30 RBI and 11 doubles in 232 plate appearances.

Bethancourt has hit .314 in June and .290 since May 1. The Braves continue to work with Bethancourt on his receiving skills behind the plate, but his arm is perhaps the best in baseball at any level.

Peraza has perhaps become Atlanta's top prospect. He hit .342 in the Carolina League before being promoted to Double-A Mississippi last week. In his six games with the M-Braves, Peraza has hit .481 (13-27). Peraza has hit safely in his last 20 games going back to his final 14 games with the Lynchburg Hillcats.
