He first went to the Atlanta bullpen and then to Triple-A Gwinnett to get "stretched out." An injury opened up the door for his return.
So for the first time since May 4, Wood will make a start for the Braves Wednesday night against the Astros.
Wood made seven starts for the Braves to start the season. He was 2-5, but his earned run average was 3.00. Wood had one bad start, on April 29 against the Marlins when he allowed seven runs in five innings. Take that game away and his ERA was 1.80 in his other six starts.
The Braves got back on track Tuesday with a 3-2 win over the Astros. They'll look for a winning streak as Wood takes the mound in game two of the series. Game time is 8:10 pm ET.
