Minor League Report

Here are the names of a few prospects doing well in Atlanta's farm system.

Gwinnett’s Joey Terdoslavich was 2-5 Sunday in the Braves’ 4-3 win at Norfolk. He had a two-run home run in the 9th inning to win the game for the Braves. Terdoslavich now has 10 home runs and 47 RBI. ‘Terdo’ has been struggling lately. He had hit .114 in his previous 10 games.

Cody Martin had another solid outing for the G-Braves. He allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits in 7.2 innings, with no walks and five strikeouts. Martin’s ERA is now at 3.51. He did not get a decision in Gwinnett’s win over the Tides.

Lefty reliever Chasen Shreve struck out the two hitters he faced Sunday in the 8th inning. Shreve now has an ERA of 1.42 in his six games in Triple-A. Shreve pitched in five games in Atlanta and had a 1.80 ERA. Expect Shreve to go back up to the big leagues when the rosters are expanded in September.

Kyle Kubitza had a solo home run for Mississippi Sunday. It was hit 7th home run of the season. Kubitza has hit .343 in his last 10 games and is hitting .292 in August. Overall, Kubitza is now hitting .297 on the season with 48 runs batted in. He’s having his best season as a pro since being drafted in the third round in 2011 out of Texas State.

Mississippi starter Jason Hursh was hit on a comeback liner on the wrist. There is no word yet on the severity of his injury. Mississippi second baseman Jose Peraza hasn’t played since last Tuesday and has played in only seven games this month. He’s out with what is being called “soreness,” but no word on what exactly is sore.

Rome outfielder Connor Lien had a two-run home run Sunday. Lien, the Braves’ 12th round pick in the 2012 draft, is quietly having a nice season in Low-A. He’s now hitting .281 with five home runs, 33 RBI, 16 doubles and 12 stolen bases. Lien is only 20 years old. The right-handed hitter hit only .226 last year in Danville, so he’s improved tremendously with his first full-season team.

Danville’s Ozhaino Albies hit his first professional home run Sunday. He’s now hitting .389 in his 26 games for Danville. He’s hitting .386 overall in 158 at bats (between the GCL Braves and Danville), with 18 stolen bases and a .462 on base percentage.
