The report is not a surprise. Schuerholz has been angling for Hart to have this role for some time now. With the trend in place around the sport to have one man in charge of the operations and then a separate general manager, this opens the door for John Coppolella to possibly be the new GM.
Hart joined the Braves last year as a consultant. He visited all minor league teams and provided insight to Schuerholz and former GM Frank Wren. Hart kept his job at MLB Network, but it is assumed he will give that up now with the larger role with the Braves.
The Dodgers recently named Andrew Friedman to a similar role and he is expected to name a GM to work under him. If Coppolella is not the choice, keep Dan O'Dowd's name in mind. He just left the Rockies and worked with Hart in Cleveland during the 1990s.
