Will the Braves bring Kris Medlen back?

Will Kris Medlen and/or Brandon Beachy be let go before the tender deadline?

The Braves have until 11:59 pm ET Tuesday to decide whether or not to offer arbitration to their five eligible players: Kris Medlen, Brandon Beachy, Mike Minor, David Carpenter and James Russell.

Bet the house on Minor being tendered a contract, but the Braves are probably debating on Carpenter and Russell. The expectation is Carpenter's deal could exceed $1 million, while Russell's contract could be over $2 million.

Medlen made $5.8 million last season while on the disabled list recovering from Tommy John elbow surgery. The CBA has the limit at what the Braves could offer Medlen at around $4.6 million, or 80% of what he made last season.

Beachy made $1.45 last season while rehabbing with the same injury. so his tender could be just over $1.1 million.

The Braves probably know much more about how the two pitchers' rehabs have gone in the last nine months. But they may non-tender one or both of them and try to rework a deal with incentives.

Medlen was expected to be the staff ace before his injury. The Braves could put either in the bullpen as they slowly return, but since both are returning from their second TJ surgery, it could be a more lengthy recovery than the normal one year.

It will be interesting to see other players that are non-tendered Tuesday. Some may interest the Braves as they re-work their roster for 2015.
