Braves agree to a deal with Kolby Allard

The Braves have added another top young arm to the organization.

The Braves have agreed to a deal with first round draft pick Kolby Allard.

Allard tweeted himself late Thursday afternoon “Headin' out to #BravesCountry in a couple days, let the journey begin!!! #CHOPNation.”

Allard will arrive in Atlanta Sunday and the Braves expect to officially announce the deal after he passes a physical on Monday or Tuesday.

The Braves will have signed all of their first 25 draft picks once the Allard deal becomes official. There are a few additional draftees the Braves will target to sign before the deadline next Friday.

Allard was the first high school pitcher chosen in the draft. The Braves believe he had the best curveball of any prep pitcher. He’s not very big physically yet, but the Braves believe his stuff translates into a potential number one starter down the road.

Allard missed part of this past season with back issues, but there is no concern it will be an issue moving forward. If not for the injury, Allard might have gone in the top five or seven in the first round instead of lasting to pick 14 when the Braves were on the board.
