Atlanta's front office should be thrilled with the early returns on the draft

The Braves draft picks from June's draft are doing very well so far.

The Braves had the long-term in mind when they drafted high school pitchers early in the June draft almost two months ago. And so far the work by the young pitchers has been very good.

Top pick Ian Anderson (3rd overall) has yet to allow an earned run in his first four starts. He's allowed 11 hits in 15 innings, with four walks and 14 strikeouts.

Joey Wentz (Lot A, 40th overall) has seven starts between the Gulf Coast League Braves and Danville. He's 0-1 overall with a 3.18 ERA, 15 hits allowed in 22.2 innings, nine walks and 30 strikeouts.

Kyle Muller (2nd round, 44th overall) has a 1.02 ERA in his first six starts in the GCL. He's allowed 11 hits in 17.2 innings, with nine walks and 24 strikeouts.

And Bryse Wilson (4th round, 109th overall) has a 1.20 ERA in his five games (three starts). He's allowed 11 hits in 15 innings, with two walks and 16 strikeouts.

Combined the four young pitchers have pitched in 22 games (20 starts). They've allowed 12 earned runs on 48 hits in 70.1 innings, 24 walks and 84 strikeouts. That's an ERA of 1.54.
