The Atlanta Braves have done a fantastic job of overhauling their minor league system over the course of the last two years. One big piece of the puzzle is left-handed pitcher Kolby Allard

Allard is ranked by Scout as the Braves No. 2 minor league prospect behind infielder Ozzie Albies. While the Braves have acquired a lot of talent through trades, Allard came to the Braves the old-fashioned way, as the No. 1 pick (14th overall) in the 2015 draft.

Allard is off to a good start this year; lowering his ERA to 1.80 after two starts with five shutout innings of the Tennessee Smokies on Thursday night. The Mississippi Braves lost the game 8-7 after giving up eight in the bottom of the ninth to the home team. How many Smokies fans stuck around to see that improbable comeback?

Last year Allard compiled an 8-3 record with a 2.98 ERA as he split time between Danville and Rome.
