Saltalamacchia hit .288 with one home run and 8 RBI in 73 at bats. He also had a .386 on base percentage. The Desert Dogs posted the best record in the AFL for the regular season. Among Salty's teammates selected to the All-Star Team were Stephen Drew, Matt Kemp, and Casey Daigle.
The Braves had four other prospects on the Desert Dogs team. Jonathan Schuerholz hit .310 with 7 RBI and a .394 OBP in 58 at bats. Schuerholz got some playing time at third base in Arizona.
And three relief prospects were on the team. Paul Bush got six starts for Phoenix and was 3-1 with a 6.66 ERA, 36 hits allowed in 25.2 innings, 5 walks, and 15 strikeouts. Ryan Basner was 1-1 in 12 relief appearances with a 4.82 ERA. He allowed 21 hits in 18.2 innings pitched, 10 runs, 4 walks, and 14 strikeouts.
