Atlanta Braves' pitcher Anthony Lerew will chat with BravesCenter's premium subscribers Tuesday night at 7:30.
Lerew spent last season between Mississippi and Richmond in the minor leagues and had a terrific season. The right-hander was 10-6 overall with a 3.71 ERA in 27 games started. He allowed 133 hits in 148 innings pitched, 61 earned runs, 55 walks, and 117 strikeouts. He was then promoted to Atlanta where he pitched in seven games and had an ERA of 5.63. Lerew allowed nine hits in eight innings, along with five earned runs in his short stint in the big leagues.
The 23-year-old Lerew was drafted in the 11th round of the 2001 draft out of Wellsville, Pennsylvania. He has started 100 games in his minor leagues career, with a 34-26 record and a 3.03 ERA.
Lerew will battle for a spot on the Atlanta roster this spring. With little room in the rotation, he'll try for a job in the Atlanta bullpen. If not, he'll return to Triple-A Richmond to continue his development as a starter.
