After several rough outings this month, Mike Remlinger had turned into a longshot to make the Braves' Opening Day roster. But Atlanta Manager Bobby Cox said yesterday he still believed the veteran Remlinger had a chance to be a huge presence for this team if he proved he could be effective in the next two weeks.
Well, after entering the game with a 20.77 ERA, Remlinger pitched two perfect innings against the Houston Astros, including a strikeout. His ERA lowered to 11.57. With the potential loss of fellow lefty John Foster, Remlinger has a great shot at making the roster if he continues to pitch well for the rest of the month.
