Minor League Preview - Thursday April 13

Bill Shanks takes a look at Thursday's schedule in the Braves' minor league system.

Richmond finishes out its eight-game homestand today when they host the first place Durham Bulls at the Diamond starting at 2:00 pm.

The Braves are 3-4 on the season, three games back of the Bulls in the International League's South Division.

Right-hander Travis Smith (0-0, 0.00) will pitch for Richmond against Bulls' righty Tim Corcoran (0-0, 0.00).

Mississippi plays game three of their series with the Mobile BayBears tonight at Trustmark Park in Pearl at 8:05 pm ET.

David Coggin (0-1, 6.75) goes for the Braves against Mobile right-hander Jose Oyervidez (0-1, 0.00).

Both teams are 3-4 on the season and three games back of Montgomery in the Southern League's South Division.

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans' starters should sue for run support. Tonight at 7:00 pm Matt Harrison (0-0, 0.00) will start for the Pelicans against Winston-Salem lefty Wes Whisler (0-1, 9.00).

Myrtle Beach has lost four in the row and have really struggled at the plate. They've scored only three runs in those four losses with only 27 hits.

Game time tonight is 7:00 pm. The Pelicans are 2-5 on the season.

After losing their first game of the season, the Rome Braves will try to get back on the winning track tonight when they take on the Savannah Sand Gnats at 7:05 at Grayson Stadium.

Jairo Cuevas and Nelson Payano will piggyback tonight for Rome, while lefty John Lannan will go for the Sand Gnats.

Rome is 5-1 on the season, still in first place in the Sally League's Southern Division.
