Minor League Preview - Thursday April 27

Bill Shanks takes a look at the Braves' minor league schedules for Thursday.


The Richmond Braves try to snap a two-game losing streak tonight when they host the Rochester Red Wings at the Diamond starting at 7:00.

Lefty Brian O'Connor (0-2, 4.00) will pitch for the Braves against Twins' prospect Boof Bonser (2-1, 0.75).

The Braves are 6-15 on the season after losing two straight ten inning games. They are tied for last place in the International League's South Division, 8.5 games back of Charlotte.


Mississippi plays game two of its five-game series in Mobile tonight starting at 8:05 pm ET.

Sean White (0-2, 5.68) will pitch for the Braves against Padres' prospect Cesar Carillo (1-0, 2.86).

The Braves are 8-13 on the season, five games back of Montgomery in the Southern League's South Division.


Myrtle Beach will have a double-header with Salem Thursday starting at 5:02 pm. The two teams will complete a game from Wednesday that was suspended in the third inning due to heavy rain. When the game was halted, Myrtle Beach was leading 1-0.

After the suspended game is finished, James Parr (0-0, 0.00) will get his first start in a while for the Pelicans. Parr has been bothered by a blister. He'll face Troy Patton (0-2, 0.68) for the Avalanche.

The Pelicans remain 10-9 on the season, three games back of Kinston in the Carolina League's Southern Division.


The Rome Braves continue their fantastic season tonight when they host Columbus at 7:05 pm.

Beau Jones will pitch for the Braves, who have won four in a row and are 15-3 on the season.

The Braves are now 5.5 games ahead of the Catfish and Asheville in the Sally League's Southern Division.
