Minor League Preview - Friday May 5

All four of the Braves' farm teams will try to get back in the win column tonight. The Braves Show's Bill Shanks has the preview for tonight's action.


Richmond plays game two of its series with Toledo tonight when they send Ricardo Rodriguez to the mound starting at 7:00.

Rodriguez has been effective since signing in mid-April. The former Rangers' starter is 1-1 with a 1.69 ERA in his first three starts. He'll oppose Chad Durbin for the Mud Hens.

The Braves are now 10-18 on the season, 11.5 games back of the Charlotte Knights in the International League's South Division.


The Mississippi Braves will try to snap a three-game losing streak tonight when they play game four of their five game set in Montgomery.

Ryan Basner will head to the hill for the Braves. The right-hander is 0-2 on the season. Lefty Chuck Tiffany will pitch for the Biscuits. He's also 0-2 this year.

Mississippi is now 10-17 on the season, 6.5 games back of the Biscuits in the Southern League's South Division.


Right-hander Charlie Morton will try to start a weekend series in Lynchburg off to a good start tonight as the Pelicans play the Hillcats.

Morton is 1-2 with a 6.27 ERA in his first five games this season. Lefty Wardell Starling will pitch for Lynchburg.

The Pelicans are now 16-12 on the season, two games back of Kinston in the Carolina League's Southern Division.


The Rome Braves will play their series finale against Asheville tonight starting at 7:05 at State Mutual Stadium.

Right-hander Jairo Cuevas (2-1, 5.32 ERA with 28 strikeouts in 23.2 innings) will pitch for the Braves, who are now 20-6 on the season and 3.5 games ahead of the Charleston River Dogs.
