Minor League Preview - Sunday May 7

The Braves Show's Bill Shanks previews today's action in the Braves' minor league system.


Richmond sends Anthony Lerew to the mound this afternoon as they finish out their series in Toledo.

Lerew is 1-2 on the season after his best start of 2006 early last week. He'll oppose a former teammate, Roman Colon, who will be making his first appearance of the season.

The Braves are 11-19, 12 games back of the red hot Charlotte Knights of the International League's South Division.


The Braves will start a series at home against West Tennesssee tonight at Trustmark Park.

Daniel Curtis (1-2) gets the start for the Braves against JR Mathes for the Diamond Jaxx.

Mississippi is now 11-18 on the season, 6.5 games back of Montgomery in the Southern League's South Division.


The Pelicans will try to snap a three-game losing streak this afternoon in Lynchburg.

Kelvin "Pancho" Villa will get his first start of the season for the Pelicans. Villa is 1-0 on the season with a 2.14 ERA.

Myrtle Beach is now 16-14 on the season, four games back of Kinston in the Carolina League's Southern Division.


Rome has also lost three games in a row, the longest losing streak of the season for the Braves, and they'll play game two of a four-game series at Greenville this afternoon.

Jo Jo Reyes (3-0) will pitch for the Braves against Kevin Guyette (1-2) for Greenville.

The Braves are now 20-8 on the season, 2.5 games back of Charleston in the South Atlantic League's Southern Division.
