Minor League Preview - Thursday May 11

The Braves Show's Bill Shanks previews tonight's minor league action.


Richmond tries against in Columbus with a rare morning game against the Clippers. First pitch is at 11:35.

Ricardo Rodriguez will pitch for the Braves. He's 2-1 in four starts this season with an ERA of 1.21.

The Braves are 13-20 on the season, 11.5 games behind Charlotte in the International League's South Division.


Mississippi finishes out the series with West Tennessee tonight starting at 8:05 pm ET.

Right-hander Matt Wright (1-1, 2.70 ERA in three games) will pitch for the Braves against Diamond Jaxx righty Randy Wells.

The Braves are 12-21 on the season. They have lost two in a row, four of their last five, and are 2-7 in May.


Myrtle Beach goes for the split in its series with Frederick tonight starting at 7:02 at Coastal Federal Field.

Jake Stevens (1-4, 8.77 ERA), who worked two games out of the bullpen to try to get straightened out, will get the start for the Pelicans.

Home has been good to the Pelicans this year, as they are 15-5 at Coastal Federal Field and only 2-11 on the road. Overall, that's 17-16 and now 5.5 games back of Kinston in the Carolina League's Southern Division.


With the rainout last night, Rome and Charleston will play a double-header starting at 6:05 at State Mutual Stadium.

Beau Jones (1-0, 2.55), back off the disabled list, will pitch game one, while Jairo Cuevas (2-2, 6.75 ERA) will go in the nightcap.

The Braves are still 22-9 on the season, 3.5 games up on Asheville and Charleston in the Sally League's Southern Division.
