Minor League Preview - Monday May 15

The Braves Show's Bill Shanks previews Monday's action around the Braves' farm system.

RICHMOND

Richmond continues its series with Toledo Monday and there's a good chance it could be a pitcher's dual.

Braves' right-hander Travis Smith, sixth in the International League with a 1.80 ERA, will face former Atlanta farmhand Zach Miner, who leads the league with five wins and is ninth with a 2.03 ERA.

The Braves have now won three in a row to improve their record to 16-21, 12.5 games back of Charlotte in the IL's South Division.

MISSISSIPPI

Mississippi will once again take on Birmingham Monday night at 8:05 pm ET in the fourth game of the series.

Ryan Basner, who is struggling with a 0-3 record and a 7.92 ERA, takes on Barons' lefty Corwin Malone (3-2, 3.43).

Matt Esquivel has been a hot hitter for the Braves, hitting .341 in May with a home run and 11 RBI.

The Braves remain eight games back of Montgomery in the Southern League's South Division with a record of 14-23 on the season.

MYRTLE BEACH

Myrtle Beach starts a three-game series in Frederick Monday night starting at 7:00.

Lefty Matt Harrison (3-3, 3.38) will pitch for the Pelicans, who are 18-18 on the season and 6.5 games back of Kinston in the Carolina League's Southern Division.

ROME

After a well-deserved day off, the Rome Braves start a series in Columbus tonight against the Catfish.

Chris Vines will make his eighth start of the season. Vines is 3-1 on the season with a 4.07 ERA.

Eric Campbell is having a good month of May, after hitting only .250 in April with two homers. Rome's third baseman is hitting .313 so far in May with 5 home runs and 12 runs batted in.

The Braves are 25-10 on the season, 4.5 games up on Augusta in the South Atlantic League's Southern Division.
