Minor League Preview - Wednesday May 17

The Braves Show's Bill Shanks previews today's action around the Braves' farm system.


Richmond tries to snap a two-game losing streak tonight when they once again host Columbus at the Diamond.

Kevin Barry (2-2, 2.75), who has pitched great in his six starts for the Braves, starts tonight against Kris Wilson (2-2, 3.09).

The Braves are 16-23 on the season, 14.5 games back of Charlotte in the International League's South Division.


Mississippi starts a five-game series in Jacksonville tonight starting at 7:00 pm ET.

Dan Curtis (2-3, 4.45) starts for the Braves against Suns' lefty Danny Muegge (3-4, 4.08).

The Braves are 15-24 on the season, eight games back of Montgomery in the Southern League's South Division.


The Pelicans take on Frederick again tonight at 7:00 pm.

Jake Stevens (1-5, 8.71) will try and get back on track for the Pelicans, who are now 19-19 on the season and 7.5 games back of Kinston in the Carolina League's Southern Division.


Rome goes for its fifth win in a row tonight when they take on the Columbus Catfish in west Georgia starting at 7:00.

Lance Cormier and Chuck James will each throw an inning in a rehab appearance. Cormier is due off the disabled list Thursday, so he could re-join the Atlanta roster if this appearance goes well. James will throw at least one more time in Richmond before he's activated.

Jairo Cuevas will pick up after the two rehab innings and pitch for Rome, who is now 27-10 on the season, 5.5 games up on Charleston in the Sally League's Southern Division.
