Minor League Preview - Thursday May 18

The Braves Show's Bill Shanks previews today's action around the Braves' farm system.


Richmond takes on Columbus again tonight at the Diamond starting at 7:00 pm.

Horacio Ramirez will make another rehab start. Ramirez is trying to recover from an injured hamstring he suffered the third game of the regular season in Los Angeles. He'll oppose Matt DeSalvo (1-4, 6.44).

The Braves have won four of their last six games and are 17-23 on the season, 14.5 games back of Charlotte in the International League's South Divison.


Mississippi plays game two of its five-game set in Jacksonville starting tonight at 7:05.

Sean White (2-2, 3.98) will pitch for the Braves against Justin Orenduff (1-2, 4.31) for the Suns.

The Braves have lost three of their last four games and are now 15-25 on the season, nine games back of Montgomery in the Southern League's South Division.


Myrtle Beach opens up a three-game series in Wilmington tonight against the Blue Rocks.

Luis Atilano (1-3, 6.05) will try to get back on track for the Pelicans. The right-hander has had a very up and down season so far.

The Pelicans are 19-20 on the season after losing their last two, and they are eight games back of the Kinston Indians in the Southern Division of the Carolina League.


Rome continues its traveling road show tonight in Columbus starting at 7:00 pm.

Jo Jo Reyes, who is having a fantastic month of May with an ERA of 1.00 in three starts, will pitch for the Braves tonight.

The lead in the Southern Division of the Sally League is still five and a half games of Charleston. Rome has won five in a row and now stands at 28-10.
