Richmond starts an eight-game homestand tonight at the Diamond. The first-place Charlotte Knights come to Richmond for the first time this season. Ricardo Rodriguez, 2-3 on the season with a 2.88 ERA in his seven starts, will pitch for the Braves. Rodriguez allowed four runs on nine hits in six innings in his last start in Norfolk. The Braves are now 20-28 on the season.
Mississippi closes out its series with the Birmingham Barons Saturday night at Trustmark Park starting at 8:05. Right-hander Matt Wright will start for the Braves. He's 2-2 on the season with a 3.16 ERA. Wright is doing very well in recovering from arm problems the past two years. He's allowed 28 hits in 31.1 innings, 11 walks, and 37 strikeouts. The Braves are 18-30 on the season.
Myrtle Beach has now had two days off after the game with Wilmington was rained out on Friday night. They'll try it again with a doubleheader Saturday starting at 5:35. James Parr (2-3, 3.63 ERA) and Kelvin Villa (1-1, 2.30 ERA) will start for the Pelicans, who are 20-25 on the season. They have lost seven of their last eight games and are 5-16 in the month of May.
Rome starts a four-game series with the Columbus Catfish tonight starting at 7:00 at State Mutual Stadium. Jairo Cuevas will get the start for the Braves. Cuevas is 3-3 on the season with an ERA of 5.88. The tall right-hander has allowed 41 hits in 41.1 innings, with 24 walks, and 49 strikeouts. He struck out ten batters in his last start. The Braves remain in first place in the Sally League's Southern Division with a record of 33-14.
