Audio Podcast: Cory Rasmus Interview

The Atlanta Braves love to find talent in their own back yard, and down I-85 they found a superb prospect in Cory Rasmus, a right-handed pitcher from Russell County in Alabama. The Braves Show's Bill Shanks talked with Rasmus about being Atlanta's pick in the supplemental first round.

Cory Rasmus has been a baseball prospect for a long time. In 1999, he was on the Phenix City, Alabama team that reached the Little League World Series.

Then he would join his dad's high school team in Russell County, Alabama. He played with his brother Colby, who last year was drafted in the first round by the St. Louis Cardinals.

But in the last year, Cory really came into his own. The day he reached 97 mph on the radar gun, he became a legit pitching prospect, and one that caught the eye of the Atlanta Braves.
