The Mississippi Braves play game four of the series at West Tennessee tonight at 8:05 pm ET. Lefty Francisely Bueno (0-2, 2.55) will take the hill against fellow southpaw Chris Shaver (4-4, 2.57). The Braves are 1-2 so far in the second half of the season.
Myrtle Beach sends Luis Atilano to the hill tonight at Avalanche Stadium in Salem in game three of the second-half opening series. Atilano was 2-6 in the first half with a 5.67 ERA. The Pelicans are 1-1 after a sterling pitching performance by Kelvin Villa Wednesday night.
The Rome Braves open the second half of their season tonight at State Mutual Stadium when they host the Charleston RiverDogs. The Braves won the first half title in the Southern Division with a 42-28 record. They'll have to play the second half without three key ingrediants, as starter Jo Jo Reyes, reliever Devin Anderson, and first baseman Isaiah Ka'aihue were promoted to Myrtle Beach. Ka'aihue will be replaced next week by Josh Morris, the former University of Georgia star first baseman and the Braves' 12th round pick this season, who signed on Wednesday.
After a season-opening victory Wednesday night, the Danville Braves will host Burlington again tonight at 7:00 pm. Tommy Hanson, a draft and follow signee from Riverside Community College, will get his first start of the season. Kyle Cofield is scheduled to pitch right behind Hanson. The Braves are 1-0 on the season.
The first-place Gulf Coast League Braves are off today. They host the GCL Phillies Friday at noon at Disney's Wide World of Sports. Edgar Osuna and Steve Evarts are scheduled to pitch for the 2-0 Braves.
